MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
Since inception to now
Membership has steadily increased from 50 founding members to over 200 members!
DEVELOPMENT OF SENIOR'S WELLNESS PROGRAM
The following are projects funded by the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) and Seniors Community Grant (SCG)
​
In 2009, we initiated our Senior's Wellness Program which included activities such as line dancing, Tai-Chi exercise, health education sessions, healthy eating workshops, karaoke singing and computer classes (Funded by the NHSP).
​
In 2011, we developed a Choral group and Rondalla ensemble (Funded by the NHSP).
​
In 2012, we started the folk dancing troupe (Funded by the NHSP).
​
In 2015, we incorporated our Zumba dance exercise (Funded by the SCG).
​
In 2017, we added a Belly dance exercise (Funded by the SCG).
​
In 2019, we established Meditation for Health and Hula dance exercise (Funded by the NHSP).
​
In 2020, we have moved our programming online through Zoom platform.
​
MEMORABLE PERFORMANCES
In 2012, the Rondalla ensemble performed at Markham Theatre as guest performer with Philippine Heritage Band.
​
In 2013, 2014, and 2017, the Rondalla ensemble, Choral group and Line dancers performed at Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Canada.
​
On May 18th 2014, SOSA held the "Celebrate Culture, Heritage and Diversity" concert at Markham Theatre with Philippine Heritage Band as guest performers.

Choral Group sang “ My Prayer, Ikaw and Pintasan”

Folkdancing Troupe danced Malong, Subli, Sakuting and Baston

Line Dancers danced Smoking Tango and Dance Again

Rondalla ensemble played Lulay, Ay Ay Kalisud, Mabuhay and Leron Leeron Sinta
On June 2012, 2013 and 2014, the Rondalla ensemble and Choral group performed in Vaughan Filipino Day.
In June 2012, SOSA performed at the Taste of Asia Festival.
On August 30th 2015, SOSA performed at the Mabuhay Philippines Festival.

In 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Line dancers and Choral group were invited to perform at Scarborough Center for Member of Parliament Salma Zahid.
